Trade Show Photography….Helpful Hints

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Photographs can speak more than a thousand words to the guests about a special event, and trade show experiences.  They offer more than a visual history of the event; the prints also bring the whole experience to all your guests.

Let your photos grab your guests in and pull them into the picture. The pictures should say, “Hey look at us!”  “Look at these crowds” “Look at these smiling faces”. Don’t you want to be a part of this excitement?”   How does the average Joe accomplish this? Here are some suggestions that you might consider when hiring your photographer:

  • Provide your show photographer with directions before and during your event. Remember that not all trade show photos are created equal and more importantly not all trade show photographers are created equally.
  • Remember to make sure your photographer understands what you are looking for.  What are you trying to accomplish
  • What is the balance between exhibits and conference sessions? Do you have an Awards Ceremony?  How about any community events sponsored by the trade show?
  • Do you want shots of crowd interaction?  What about those architectural booth shots?  Don’t forget the all-important shots of VIPs. We look for interaction in the booth — is the exhibitor actually handling a product or
  • A good photographer should be able to personalize the experience by showing how hands-on they are with the whole trade show experience..

Remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression. You must be honest and upfront with your photographer.  They are your partner and can really document the trade show experience.  So come on hire your favorite skilled photographer

Summer is here!

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

What does this mean?  Other than, it’s time for friends, barbeques, swimming and vacations!  How about attending our industry national shows; that is exactly what Christie’s Photographic Studios will be doing.

We will be attending NACE, ISES, HCEA, and The Kellon Summit, just to name a few.  Now is the time to take advantage of the slow season to renew our energy and learn more from our industry experts.

During the summer months we all like to take advantage of attending all national shows including national tradeshows.  The knowledge is invaluable as well as the networking.  Christie’s enjoys many nationwide relationships and like to become actively involved.

We look forward to seeing our industry friends, learning new skills, and experiencing new experiences.

Presentations the difference it can make

How important is it to connect with your clients?  Don’t you feel connected after you have presented to their sales and convention service managers?  Educating your client on your company and the benefits of the two of you working together is priceless.  Discuss with your clients what is different and unique about your company.  Inform them of the benefits of the two working together towards a common goal.

There are so many different ways of presenting to your future clients.  Be yourself, show them how important they are to your success and how much you want to help them be a success.  You will create business partners for years to come and increase your bottom line.  This is all part of the sales process!  Have fun with it, donate some of your services and most of all be their friend. Relationship marketing is a key to long lasting professional friendships. Many professional photographers can easily come to your place of business and offer corporate headshots, to update old photos or to add on the new staff for publicity photos.

To help your relationship marketing as well as your social media campaign make sure you have appropriate quality photos on yourself. Remember to keep them updated so people see the real you!!!

Christie’s Photographic Studios travels Nationwide!

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Whether you’re a part of show management, an association or corporate meeting planner a photographer who knows and understands your needs is so very important. This often calls for a photographer or photographic company that is able to travel with clients to their next meeting site.

It will certainly relieve the meeting planner knowing your CEO or President enjoys working with the person responsible for putting them in a good light. Having a photographer who can travel with you and knows your needs can relieve that stress that comes with “babysitting”.

Building a rapport with your photographer can make that part of your job less stressful and more productive. You might be surprised as some companies will accommodate travel costs to earn business they might not have otherwise received.

Exhibitor Show 2011

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Las Vegas was buzzing with excitement this past week!  The Exhibitor Show was simply amazing.  I was on sensory overload walking the show and learning all about the new tools that we can use for trade shows.

I loved stopping by the Freeman booth and designing my very own bracelet and voting for my favorite charity.  What a wonderful way to get your attendees to stop by your booth and chat for awhile.  Congrats to Freeman for winning Buyers Choice Award for their Concierge Elite product. This product alleviates the headaches associated with booth setup and tear down by allowing exhibitors to use their mobile device or smart phone to handle logistics from the comfort of their booth or hotel.   I can’t wait to try it out on the next Freeman show.

Some other booths that I had fun at were the Derse booth.  Their booth was so much fun and I loved the look and feel of it.  The big white fluffy bean bags were awesome.  There were several booths that had unbelievable and unique signage opportunities.

I can’t wait for next year to walk the floor and see what else is new and different.  Now to make use of what I learned for the upcoming Christies tradeshow booth.
